While true orthodontic emergencies are rare, we want to make sure we’re available if they do come up. That’s why we offer on-call care for all of our patients during non-working hours.
We call it our Comfort Care line because we want you to know that we’re always here to ensure your comfort during your treatment. Whether you have a loose bracket, a poking wire, a broken or lost retainer, or anything causing you discomfort, just give us a call, and we’ll help you resolve the problem.
Not at all! While we welcome referrals from your general dentist, you’re also welcome to schedule a complimentary consultation directly with Dr. Fortney or Dr. George at your convenience.

We know your time is valuable and we want your visit to be as comfortable as possible. Our waiting area has amenities for the whole family! Relax with a cup of coffee or water while you watch TV or hop on our free Wi-Fi. We have many children’s games to entertain the little ones during your appointment! Plus, we have a dedicated gender-neutral restroom.
Escondido, meet your smile experts! Dr. Fortney and Dr. George are passionate leaders in orthodontics, bringing a wealth of experience and qualifications to create beautiful, healthy smiles for patients of all ages.
Dr. Christy Fortney grew up in a dental family in Rancho Bernardo, and, inspired by the days she spent cleaning instruments in her father’s oral surgery office, she knew early on that she wanted to help people achieve the smile of their dreams.
In 1994, Dr. Fortney graduated with her B.S. in Biology from Loyola Marymount University. After that, she received her general dental degree in 1998 from Northwestern University. To complete her dental training, in 2001, she earned a specialty degree in Orthodontics from the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Fortney sought to distinguish herself further, and obtained her Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 2006, the highest level of achievement in orthodontics.
Dr. Fortney’s dedication, drive and passion are unquestionable when it comes to orthodontics. She’ll work tirelessly to find the unique solution for your smile so that you can wear it proudly and healthily for the rest of your life!
Dr. George is a gifted and experienced professional with an unmistakable southern charm. Born and raised in Northeast Louisiana, Dr. George was inspired to pursue a career in orthodontics as a result of her own experience of getting braces in middle school.
After graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 2011, she continued at LSU to obtain her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2015. In 2018, she completed her specialty training in orthodontics at Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry, where she obtained her certificate in orthodontics. After Dr. George completed her residency, she completed the requirements and examination necessary to become board-certified in Orthodontics – a distinction held by only 35% of orthodontists in the United States.
Dr. George believes in the power of expert and individualized orthodontic treatment to restore patients’ confidence and self-esteem through a fabulous and healthy smile. Dr. George’s goal is to make every patient’s treatment fun, exciting, comfortable, and memorable.
